Featured are Ann PFAU’s ancestors.  She was the daughter of  Eva Julia PLENNERT and Anton PFAU, Sr..  Both of these ancestors migrated to America from the Germanic Banat Region of Arad County, Hungary.  They met and married in Portland OR and settled in Marion Co. OR, near Salem.  Their descendants are plentiful.  A family reunion is held every 4th of July.

Christian PLENNERT

Julianna SCHMIDT was born 9 Sep 1870 in Neopanat, Arad, Hungary and had seven children born in Austria-Hungary, only three survived childhood to immigrate to America.  Julianna was the daughter of Catherina NOZAK and Andreas SCHMIDT.  She also had a sister who migrated to America, Elizabeth (Mrs. Lorenz) FREISINGER.  Julianna married Wm. John Frederick BECKER about 1907 in Portland OR.  She died 30 Oct 1955 in Portland, Multnomah Co. OR. 

Tomas PFAU was christened 9 Jun 1850 in the Catholic Church in Pankota, Arad, Hungary.  He was the son of Anna GVASNITSKA and Antonius “Antal” PFAU.  He was one of 6 known children.  Tomas & his brother, Anton, both died in Pankota, Arad, Hungary but their children and wives migrated to America, settling in Marion Co. OR.  We would like to learn of any other PFAU’s from Pankota, Hungary.

Mary SCHMIDT was born 20 Aug 1858 in Pankota, Arad, Hungary.  She was the daughter of Genoveva SCHAEFFER and Petrus SCHMIDT.  Mary came to America after her first husband died in Hungary.  She married Anton HACK, and then still later Anton WOELKE.  She died 26 Feb 1929 in Gervais, Marion Co. OR.  Her brother, Peter SCHMIDT, also settled in Marion Co. OR.

Very little is known about Christian PLENNERT.  He was born about 1863/1864 in Hungary and died 18 Feb 1904 in Neopanat (Ujpanat), Arad, Hungary.   Family lore says that he was a musician and froze to death while walking home after playing the fiddle at a wedding.  We would very much like to learn more about this line.
