Featured are the ancestors of Clara Alberta NORTON and Albert Reubon Gastauff SHOGREN.  These families migrated from Sweden to Minnesota and many ended up in CA, OR, WA and ID.  Some still remain in Minnesota.

Bartlett Rouseau NORTON

Ida BRUNDIGE was born 18 Jun 1874 in Harrison Co. IA, the daughter of Jane S. CHINWORTH and John Gould BRUNDIGE.  Ida married Bartlett NORTON on 14 Feb 1894 in Missouri Valley, Harrison Co. IA.  She died 7 Feb 1961 in Turlock, Stanislaus Co. CA.  Her grandparents were Ann and Robert CHINWORTH (b. 1811 VT) and Elizabeth MCGAVREN (b. 11 Dec 1825 PA d. 8 Feb 1907 IN) and Uriah BRUNDIGE (b. 6 Dec 1813 Delaware Co. OH d. 20 Nov 1878 Wabash Co. IN). 

“Carl” SHOGREN was born 16 Nov 1854 in Ljusnarsberg, Oregbro, Sweden.  He was the son of Christina Gustave NYSTROM and Anders Andersson “Andrew” SHOGREN.  His parents migrated to America in the 1870’s and settled in Belle River, Douglas Co. MN.  Carl married Matilda JOHNSON 14 Apr 1879 in Alexandria, Douglas Co. MN.  Carl died 22 Sep 1938 in Turlock, Stanislaus Co. CA.

Matilda JOHNSON was born 28 Sep 1862 in Eriksberg, Alusborg, Sweden.  She is the daughter of Clara Johansdotter (b. 12 Aug 1837 Bjorstorp, Lilliegarden, Sweden) and Gustaf “Suarm” JOHANNESON (b. 28 Jul 1836 Hinsagarden, Alvared, Sweden d. 1870 at sea).  Matilda was one of six children.  Matilda died 27 Jan 1947 in Alexandria, Douglas Co. MN.

Bartlett NORTON was born 29 Oct 1861 in Norton’s Valley, Breckinridge Co. KY.  He was the son of Catherine SMITH (b. 15 May 1826 Ripple Creek Germany) and Bartlett NORTON (b. 19 Mar 1826 Norton’s Valley KY).  He was child #9 of 12 children.  He died 11 Jun 1939 in Turlock, Stanislaus Co. CA.  His grandparents were Barbara E. BASHAM and Isaac Aaron NORTON (b. 2 Feb 1802 NY).  Isaac NORTON is believed to be the son of Jeremiah NORTON.
