Featured are Pete SPROED’s ancestors. He was the son of Louisa Dorthie BURGER and Hermann Fredrick SPROED. These families were German and believed to have became Seventh-day Adventists in the 1890’s. Louisa died tragically in the OR flu epidemic of 1918. A family reunion is held each summer. |

“Amelia” MINSKE was born 22 Aug 1853 in Germany. She was the daughter of Julianna NOVACK and Johannes MINSKE. Two of her older half sisters married two of her older half brothers. “Amelia” married Fred BURGER 31 Jan 1871 in St. Mary, Waseca Co. MN. She died 18 Feb 1937 in Salem, Marion Co. OR. Her grandparents are Dorothy Louise KANNE & Daniel NOVACK. |

“John” SPROED was born 30 Oct 1830 in Germany. He was the son of Johanna Elisabeth GEMEINHARDT and Adam Heinrich SPROED. They lived in the town of Sparnberg, Thuringia, Germany. He married Cedonia KORB 12 May 1856 in Sparnberg. He immigrated to America in 1880 with his children. He died between 1905-1910 in North Branch, Isanti Co. MN. |

Cedonia Auguste KORB was born 26 Jan 1834 in Germany. She is the daughter of Henriette Wilhelmine ERLER and Johann Heinrich KORB. Her brother, Anton Julius KORB had immigrated to America in 1848. Her sister Katherine KORB (Mrs. Karl) HOFFMAN was reportedly an organist in Germany of some repute. Cedonia died 20 Oct 1915 in North Branch, Isanti Co. MN. |

Frederick BURGER was born 22 Feb 1847 in “Prussia”. We are still hoping to learn his actual birthplace but suspect it may be Veronika, Schubin, Bromberg District, Germany (now Poland). He immigrated in 1867 to Deerfield, Steele Co. MN. He was the son of Louisa MANTHI/MANTEI and William BURGER (buried in Waseca Co. MN). Fred reportedly worked on the Brooklyn Bridge when he first came to America. He moved to OR for health reasons in 1912. He died 14 Nov 1915 in Salem, Marion Co. OR. |
